Victims of child abuse are more likely to grow up to smoke, abuse drugs and alcohol, experience rape and commit suicide according to a child expert quoted in The Courier Mail.
Pediatrician and child protection adviser Dr Kerry Sullivan, said that the adverse physical and mental health outcomes of child abuse victims highlight the need for the early detection of abuse, efficient interventions and effective treatment services.
