Bag a Smile and a Bargain at the CPS Opportunity Shop
The dedicated staff and volunteers at the CPS Op Shop are always on hand to help shoppers and second-hand dealers bag a bargain.
Co-Manager Merryn Miller says that if people want something in particular, they will “keep an eye out for it” in the steady stream of donations that come through the doors.
“Some people have requested books by a certain author, we have a guy who collects bottle openers and another who has a nationwide exhibition of LPs with some of his stock sourced from us,” says Merryn.
The treasure trove of goods awaiting discovery include quality bric-a-brac, toys, books, clothes, shoes, handbags, manchester, framed pictures, kitchenware, small furniture and specialty items.
In 1980, CPS Board Member Wilma Paine, OAM, launched the CPS Northern Auxiliary which in 1984 established the op shop. Funds raised from the sale of goods help to finance vital services at the Children's Protection Society.
Volunteers are always welcome and shifts are normally three hours, either weekly, monthly or depending on availability. For further information, phone 03 9458 5400.
