Child FIRST

Helping to Build Stronger Families

Child FIRST North East Metro (Family Information Referral Support Team) provides a central referral point into Family Service Programs.  .

This service supports families who reside in the municipalities of Banyule, Darebin, Nillumbik, Whittlesea and Yarra and have children aged between 0-17 years, including prebirth support.

We can provide information and advice to families or professionals where there are concerns about a child’s wellbeing.  The aim is to ensure that vulnerable children, young people and their families are linked with community services and supports.

Child FIRST North East Metro is a partnership between the nine family service agencies in north east Melbourne and the Victorian Government's Department of Human Services. Child FIRST and the nine participating agencies work together to provide targeted and individualised support.

Referrals can come directly from families or other professionals and may include concerns around parenting, family conflict, physical or mental health issues, substance misuse and social isolation.

Child FIRST North East Metro is managed by the Children’s Protection Society.

Child FIRST is a gateway to services provided by a strong alliance of agencies in the north-east suburbs of Melbourne
