To break the cycle of abuse and neglect in families and to improve the life chances and choices for children who have experienced abuse and neglect

Through direct service, community work and practice based research with children, families and communities caught up in a cycle of abuse and neglect, the CPS builds the knowledge to innovate, lead and influence child welfare practice at a local, State, Federal and International level.
To reduce the incidence of child abuse and neglect in our local communities We will achieve this by: • Intervening early to bring vulnerable children and families into relationships with services that can provide support for positive change • Providing effective family support services to families where children are at risk • Working with local communities to strengthen protective factors and reduce risk factors
To lead and influence child welfare practice knowledge and development We will achieve this by: • Leading and contributing to child and family services development at a local, State, Federal and International level • Employing practice based on sound knowledge and evidence • Disseminating the knowledge derived from CPS practice • Successfully innovating in relation to core business • Replicating successful models in new communities
To reduce the harms caused by child abuse and neglect We will achieve this by: • Providing therapeutic services to children who have experienced abuse or neglect • Providing therapeutic support to families caring for children who have been abused or neglected
To mobilise resources and effort for long term, sustained achievement of the CPS mission We will achieve this by: • Building the experience and talent of our staff team, the board and the volunteers • Supporting a work environment that assures excellence in practice • Building the reputation of CPS for quality services to assist children who have been abused or neglected, or at risk of being abused or neglected • Developing effective community links and involvement • Developing fundraising mechanisms • Establishing improved accountability mechanisms to all our stakeholders
