Become a CPS Angel

From its very beginning in 1896, a succession of Angels has watched over the Children’s Protection Society. Angels such as Lady Sybil de Vere Brassey (our founding President), Anne Clemens, Dame Elisabeth Murdoch, Neil Westaway and Charles Tegner have ensured that the Society has had the vision and the means to protect and support the most vulnerable children in our community. They have had the courage to engage in one of the most difficult problems of our community – the abuse and neglect of children – and the foresight to realise that they could make a difference.

The generosity and leadership of our supporters has made it possible for CPS to work with vulnerable children and their families; to start Victoria’s first specialist counselling service for sexually abused children; and to invest in early childhood education.

Help us realise our vision that All children will live and thrive in safe families and communities.

Take the lead in protecting children - please join me in becoming a CPS Angel.

President, Children’s Protection Society

Fundraising Events

It’s no rumour that this year’s Rumours Feast was a huge success! 442 guests filled the Regent Theatre Plaza Ballroom to support CPS.

Children’s Protection Society President, Mr Tim Mulvany, introduced the event followed by a powerful presentation by Janet Williams-Smith CPS’s Program Development Manager of Early Childhood Services which delivered the message of the importance of early intervention to achieve the best outcomes for children at risk of abuse and neglect.

We are pleased to announce that the event raised close to $120,000. This money will be used to develop a new specialist early childhood education and care centre targeted to young vulnerable children. This breakthrough early intervention strategy is a key initiative in the CPS Strategic Plan which will change the life trajectories of children at risk of abuse and neglect.

To receive information about up-coming fundraising events including next years Rumours Feast please email cps@cps.org.au , or write to CPS 70 Altona St Heidelberg West 3081,or phone 9450 0900 and ask to be added to our mailing list for fundraising events.

Become A Volunteer

VOLUNTEERS

Are you able to commit to 1 to 2 years? Are you a good listener?

The Mentoring Mums project is to provide a supportive, caring voluntary relationship to assist mother’s, with limited resources, few family supports and lack of social connection to their communities and so enable them to be the best parent they can be to their children.

Volunteers recruited for the this program will be good communicaters and listeners, and who are both reliable & understanding. The volunteer will have experience in bringing up children and have an interest in working with pregnant women who are isolated within the community. It is anticipated that the volunteers will be visiting the mothers in their home & may accompany them to appointments or outings.

Such volunteers would walk with the woman during her pregancy, maintain contact and provide a supportive relationship during the early childhood years.

Volunteers will be required to participate in a 3 day induction training with regular supervison and ongoing training.
